To feel a sense of accomplishment is very important. The small goals, as simple as

learning a new technique, can be rewarding. As children progress in karate they are awarded belts to measure their
progress. The student must perform to set standards and work hard toward these small goals. Initially
the student perceives the black belt as the pinnacle of success. As one progresses toward the black
belt they realize there is much more to it than just a different belt color.

The achievement to black belt takes 3 to 6 years. I think this time frame gives

the student time to contemplate their goal and assess their own ability.

It is important to reflect on ourselves in the process of achieving our goals.
There are many things that we can achieve immediately with money.

Karate takes a lot of hard work and patience to be dedicated. This concept of hard

work and patience crosses over into all aspects of our lives. This includes school work!

The student understands this without us adults pontificating its virtues.

The student must work hard to accomplish their goals and earn the things they want.
